D.C. woman charged with child abuse after child found dead in Virginia

The mother of a 2-year-old girl from the District has been charged with child abuse after the toddler was found dead Monday in a hotel room in Virginia Beach, according to police and prosecutors.

Leandra Andrade, 38, is being held pending a bond hearing Thursday. She is charged with child abuse with serious injury, according to jail records and a spokeswoman for the Commonwealth Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach.
