A 41-year-old man was arrested and is facing multiple child abuse charges after a domestic violence incident in New London in January, police said.

The New London Police Department in conjunction with the East Lyme Police Department and State of Connecticut Adult Probation served an arrest warrant on Michael Gregor on Thursday.

The warrant followed an investigation into a reported domestic violence incident on Jan. 29, at a residence in New London involving a juvenile victim. The juvenile was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with injuries, police said.

The juvenile was transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital for further treatment, according to police.

Police said they found that the juvenile had been subjected to living in squalor, inhumane conditions and abuse over a period of time.

Gregor was located at his home in East Lyme on Thursday and taken into custody without incident, police said. He was charged with first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, cruelty to persons, risk of injury to a minor, unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment.

Gregor was being held in lieu of a $750,000 cash surety bond, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the New London Police Department Detective Bureau at 860-447-1481.
